Let sleeping dogs lie …
Occupy Union Square. 4.7.12
Around the square one could hear the normal luxury and capitalism driven conversation, “do you like my new shoes?”, “I really need to get my nails done … my hair colored …”, “wish I could have made it to the gym today …”. Within the square the conversation was noticeably different, focused around buzz words like, “systems”, “education”, “universal”, “global” - it was refreshing, especially for someone who escapes into headphones whenever in public to avoid the mindless dribble that exudes from the masses. The only people that were unsocial were those in the massive pack of NYPD, who at least doubled the protesters, and instead of using words just turned their backs when I asked if I could take their photograph.
We begin to behave like the Ocean
Taking in increments
In calculated attacks
Wearing down the surface
As the sun bleaches the colors jejune
My Saturday.
It rained.
It gives you the streets empty of those thinking rain means to stay in, gives everything a jewel tone hue, and you back its reflection.
Anonymous asked: Hi there! This isn't a question but a comment. I'm the girl in your photo holding the set list after Fiona's show at Bowery last Monday. Your write up of the show is spot on and I love the photos also. Well done! Hope to see you at Governer's Ball!
Awesome, so glad you found it! Thanks for the kind words too.
Really hope to make it to the GB, interesting lineup. Had to see that night’s performance though as it was the most intimate venue of all on her tour from what I could see. Barely made it in too, phew.
Cheers, and keep in touch!

The woman in this video is an undergrad in the Social Research School of the New School and one of my neighbor’s classes, who is completing her Masters at the New School. The woman, Cecily McMillan, in a green tee-shirt and skirt (St. Patrick’s day), is in her early twenties and in attendance of yesterday’s Occupy Wall Street’s protest in Liberty Square, which marked the sixth month since the movement’s inception.
That being said, one needn’t any personal relation to find this footage disturbing, and there is no excuse that can justify the actions, as well as the lack of action, taken within it.
(not my video)
